The Montgomery County A.H.E.A.D. Coalition began in 1990 as the local coordinating council for the Governor's Commission for a Drug-Free Indiana. We've grown over the years from a handful of drug prevention educators to an army of more than 200 deeply committed grassroots activists. In fewer than 15 years, we've created a non-profit organization, networked with numerous state and national prevention resources, and established a variety of local programs that have proven effective in substance abuse prevention, intervention, and enforcement in Montgomery County.
Today our membership reflects the diversity of our society and represents every sector of our community, including business people, professional educators, pastors and other clergy, health care and social service providers, judges and law enforcement officials, recreation directors, media and marketing specialists, television and radio broadcasters, as well as individual parents, teens and young adults.
